Bel Air: Scott’s Old Field

Bel Air, Maryland, has strong historic roots that make it an interesting place to live and visit. Bel-Air was originally known as “Scott’s Old Field” as it was a part of a land grant issued to Daniel Scott in 1731. In March 1782 “Belle Aire” was designated the county seat of Harford County. Moreover, it has gone through several incarnations since 1780.

Bel Air is the county seat of Harford County, Maryland, United States. According to the 2010 United States Census, the population of the town was 10,120. Today, Bel Air is the center for the governmental, educational, cultural, medical, and commercial institutions in the county.
A few interesting sites to visit in the city include Rockfield Manor, Jerusalem Mills, and the Hays House Museum.
